Matt Gerber is a central Florida native, a member of the original Orlando Scorpions Team, and a 2001 graduate from Winter Park HS, where he played under long-time coach Bob King. Upon graduation, Matt attended Furman University Greenville, SC where he was a freshman starter for the Paladins. Upon completion of his freshman year, Coach Gerber transferred to Rollins College where he played for three years under the direction of current Scorpions CEO Bob Rikeman. Coach Gerber was a member of the winningest class in Rollins College History, amassing a record 155 wins over his time on campus. Coach Gerber and his Rollins teammates participated in 3 Regionals and lost in the National Semi-Final in the 2004 College World Series.
Immediately following his playing career at Rollins College in 2005, Matt began his coaching career within the Scorpions Organization. Under the guidance of Scorpions Founder Sal Lombardo, he quickly became an integral part of the program’s success. In 2011, Matt became the owner of the Scorpions Organization. Matt has been instrumental in the growth of the Scorpions Brand over the years and will continue to dedicate his time to ensure that the Scorpions sustain their standard of excellence going forward. He currently serves as the Director of Teams and Tournaments as well as the head coach for the 2019 Founders Club team.
